Summary:

Responsible for reviewing a percentage of the institution's loan portfolio for quality, accuracy and regulation compliance.

Essential Functions:

• Provide an assessment of loan condition and quality, independent of the lending function.
• Maintain a good working knowledge of Southside Bank's lending policies and procedures and identify deviations from policy.
• In the absence of the Senior Loan Review Officer, report to the Loan Review Committee any findings which may have an adverse effect on loan collateral or a borrower's ability to repay the loan as well as the details of the ALLL calculation.
• Assist with post-origination classification of loan assets for accounting and regulatory capital adequacy requirements.
• Work with the lending officers diplomatically to complete reviews and address potential issues with credits.
• Work closely with Senior Loan Review Officer when identifying potential classified assets and to provide oversight analysis for lending policies, procedures and servicing functions within Southside Bank.

Additional Functions:

• Routine duties performed with minimal supervision. The ability to use standard practices or procedures in order to proceed alone with routine work. Occasional work is checked while in progress and is reviewed upon completion.
• Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
• Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
• Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting or Finance.
• In depth knowledge of financial statements and financial ratios.
• Previous credit experience and knowledge of the underwriting process within the banking industry is required.
• Ability to operate and accurately complete required work within strict timelines.
• Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work with and respect all employee levels within the Bank.
• Must be self-motivating and resourceful.
• Possess good organizational skills.
• Uphold working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Maintain the confidential nature of inside information concerning customers' financial information.
• Detail-oriented with attention for completeness in complex loan and financial information.
• Perform simple, routine, tasks repetitively according to set procedures.
• Follow directions expressly assigned by other people or helping others with their work assignments.
• Understand complex instructions and written materials. Read, write and speak using standard business communication formats, diction and style.
• Adapting effectively to changing work tasks, technology, procedures, conditions and physical demands.
• Apply common sense to carry out verbal or written instruction and to solve problems in standardized work situations.

Necessary Skills:

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to define problems; collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
• Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record-keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Prioritize, organize and delegate assignments.

Physical Activity/Dexterity:

• Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with fingers. Works with fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.

Physical Environment Demands:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time.
• The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to visit other offices, conference rooms, office machinery, etc.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and telephone.
• Constantly positions self to operate on a computer.
• The person in this position frequently communicates with other people throughout each day. Must be able to exchange accurate information when conversing.

Working Conditions/Environment:

• Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
• Moderate noise (e.g. business office with computers and printers, light traffic).

Work Schedule/Hours:

• Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
• Available for overtime as needed.
