Job Summary:
The Director, Mission Delivery is a key strategic leader focused on driving Girl Scout membership growth, delivering high-quality programs, and scaling Community Programs across the East Texas area. This role leads the implementation of innovative, community-driven initiatives including the East Texas Community Programs (including future Girl Scout Academy initiatives), upcoming DreamLab and Mobile Programming Van, and East Texas pilot. They are directly responsible for the recruitment, engagement, and retention of girls and volunteers in this area, ensuring that Girl Scouts reaches more girls in more communities with culturally relevant and impactful programming and diverse models.
This role provides hands-on leadership to staff and programs in East Texas and collaborates cross-functionally to align membership, programming, and outreach strategies with council-wide goals. The Area Lead will operationalize the community engagement framework and cultivate partnerships that expand access and drive equitable outcomes.
To ensure that a diverse set of delivery models meeting the needs of varied communities are available, this role will manage the Community Partnership models /teams to maximize scalable and sustainable engagement that delivers impactful programming. This role is accountable for the quality of school and community-based staff programming offered by the council to girl members. They will set strategies to lead effective delivery of Girl Scout community-based programs and ensure program delivery quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Lead the East Texas Area team with full accountability for membership and program outcomes. Translate long-term strategic goals into actionable annual plans that drive measurable impact in targeted communities.
Cross-Functional Alignment & Team Cohesion:
Champion a culture of collaboration and shared accountability among all staff serving the East Texas Area, regardless of role or department. Ensure every team member—whether focused on membership, programming, or outreach—understands and contributes to collective goals that prioritize girl experience, member satisfaction, and community impact. Lead efforts to break down silos, align workstreams, and foster a unified, mission-driven approach to serving girls, families, and volunteers with excellence. Build a team environment where staff feel valued, appreciated, and understood, and where their growth and professional development are actively supported.
Membership Growth and Retention:
Directly manage membership staff responsible for recruitment and retention in East Texas. Coach and develop high-performing, goal-oriented teams grounded in community engagement principles. Ensure staff deeply understand their membership goals, sales plans, and how to effectively execute them with clarity and accountability. Foster a culture of excellence in customer service, where every interaction with families, volunteers, and community members is responsive, relationship-based, and mission-aligned. Drive a results-focused strategy to recruit and retain members, with an emphasis on increasing reach among underrepresented communities. Use data to track progress, identify barriers, and adapt strategies for sustained impact.
Leadership of East Texas Pilot Initiatives:
Provide visionary leadership for the East Texas pilot initiative, which serves as an incubator for innovative strategies to expand membership, deepen community trust, and reimagine Girl Scout delivery. Ensure all work is rooted in the Community Engagement Framework, with a focus on removing access barriers, co-creating culturally relevant programs, and providing multiple, flexible entry points for families to join and engage. Foster a relational—not transactional—approach to volunteer and family engagement, emphasizing radical support, local relevance, and an elevated customer experience. Internally, drive cross-departmental collaboration and model new ways of working that prioritize shared goals, team alignment, and community voice. Use the pilot to test, learn, and refine scalable models for broader council-wide adoption, ultimately transforming how we reach and retain members in historically underrepresented communities.
Program Innovation & Partner-Driven Delivery (East Texas):
Lead the development and execution of a bold, co-created program strategy for East Texas that delivers high-quality, engaging Girl Scout experiences for girls K–12. Supervise program staff to design and implement fun, progressive, and inclusive programs that resonate with girls, are accessible for families, and easy for volunteers to support. Build strong partnerships with local organizations, schools, and community stakeholders to enhance program offerings and reach. Ensure programming is aligned with Girl Scout outcomes and reflects the diverse interests and needs of East Texas communities.
Community Engagement:
Deepen relationships with community stakeholders, schools, and partner organizations to co-create culturally relevant pathways for girls and families to engage with Girl Scouts.
Management of East Texas Community Partnerships Program:
Lead the strategy, execution, and continuous improvement of the East Texas Community Partnerships Program, ensuring sustainable, high-impact school and community-based delivery models. Oversee the implementation of innovative, culturally responsive programming that aligns with community needs and council goals. Build and maintain strong relationships with partners, gather and act on community feedback, and ensure consistent adherence to program quality standards. Manage hiring, onboarding, and performance development of staff and leaders involved in community partnerships. Develop and track clear performance metrics across all partnership sites to evaluate success, inform decision-making, and drive accountability. Ensure consistent quality of all school and community-based programming in East Texas. Track outcomes and evaluate impact to drive continuous improvement.
Operational Excellence:
Manage budgets, funding requirements, and reporting for all assigned programs. Ensure compliance with grant expectations and support development of proposals and funder reports.
