General Summary of the Position
Performs tasks involving physical labor in fabrication of structural modules and parts in accordance with plans and AWS D1.1.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (following are accountabilities included but not limited to):
• Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in fabrication and assembly projects.
• Operates a variety of hand and power tools.
• Maintains a clean job site; pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards.
• Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.
• Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the Structural Shop Superintendent or HSSE Manager.
• Other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.
Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in fabrication of structural steel modules and parts.
• Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
• Proficient with tools common to pipe fabrication (i.e. beveling machines, oxy-fuel cutting torches, etc.)
• Ability to fabricate piping and assemblies using isometric drawings, following quality control procedures to ensure the products meet the required specifications
• Proficient in performing piping layouts such as branch connections, dummy legs, off sets, etc.
• Possesses a willingness to provide in-situ instruction to assigned Helper.
Education, Training and Experience:
• Any experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
Work Context:
• Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and other particles.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
• Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
• Noise level is generally loud.
• Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.
• Excellent stamina is required.
• Must be able to work in elevated areas.
