Exciting Opportunity: Buyer - Footwear at a Leading Retail Organization
Seeking a dynamic Buyer specializing in Footwear to join a prominent retail organization. In this key role, you will drive product selection, pricing strategies, and promotional initiatives to achieve sales and profit goals. Collaborating closely with Planning and Merchandising teams, you will ensure optimal availability of styles and sizes to enhance the customer experience. Reporting to the Divisional Merchandise Manager, you will be responsible for trend analysis, strategy development, and proactive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic partnership and resource for the organization
- Leading junior Merchandising Department Associates
- Supervising a high-volume footwear business across omnichannel strategies
- Making product decisions based on brand integrity and core customer understanding
- Establishing assortment plans aligning with financial objectives
- Collaborating with Planning for enhanced sales and margin strategies
- Ensuring store-level depth and SKU assortment meet demand
- Maximizing e-commerce sales and messaging effectiveness
- Identifying and promoting key footwear styles with the Director of Marketing
- Supervising, coaching, and developing direct reports
- Analyzing competition for pricing, trends, and marketing
- Traveling for market visits, store inspections, and vendor meetings
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Retail Merchandising, Business, or related field
- Minimum 6 years of retail buying experience in footwear
- At least 2 years of leading merchandising teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding of retail KPIs and financial metrics
- Negotiation and vendor management capabilities
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
Preferred Skills: - Experience in buying or managing footwear
- Familiarity with western and work footwear brands
- Developing private label or exclusive product assortments
- Strong analytical and quantitative decision-making abilities
- Merchandising experience in store and e-commerce environments
