Aide - In-School Suspension

Primary Purpose:

Supervise the students assigned to the ISS class for disciplinary reasons; maintain a highly structured and orderly environment.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • To comply with the "No Child Left Behind" requirements, at least 48 semester hours of college credit or pass a rigorous test to be administered through Region VII.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Demonstrates interest in and aptitude for work to be performed
  • Desire and ability to work with children
  • Have experience related to working with students or parents
  • Keyboarding and computer proficiency
Experience:
  • Have experience related to working with students or parents
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Work with certified teacher and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom environment.
  • Work with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher.
  • Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
  • Distribute, collect, and check student assignments for accuracy.
  • Maintain individual files of completed student assignments and return to classroom teachers.
  • Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Record student attendance and discipline referrals using personal computer.
  • Supervise students assigned to ISS during lunch and bathroom breaks.
  • Complies with directions and instructions from supervisor, performs other tasks, and assumes such responsibilities as may be assigned.
  • Maintains positive and cooperative working relationships with colleagues and others in the conduct of district business; demonstrates teamwork in daily activities.
  • Is prompt, timely, and thorough in completing assignments and attending to details accurately and efficiently.
  • Is regular in attendance and complies with notification procedure for absences.
  • Provides complete and accurate information in the conduct of district business.
  • Maintains confidentiality in the conduct of district business.
  • Complies with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Adheres to the district's safety policies and procedures.
  • Participates in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
  • Participates in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.
  • If applicable, input, verify, or update PEIMS information as assigned by supervisor.
  • Keep an accurate record of placements by six weeks, semester and year on a personal computer.
